Nicaragua is subject to financial sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU).

Implementation date

These sanctions were introduced by the EU on 14 October 2019, and in force in the UK from 6 November 2019.


Sanctions are imposed against certain persons, entities or bodies responsible for serious human rights violations or the repression of civil society in Nicaragua.
