Details of the application

Ferrovial Agroman (UK) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from relief wells in the Tertiary Sandstones at the Cremorne Wharf Depot, Lots Road Pumping Station, Lots Road, London. The proposal is for abstraction from two areas:

Area 1 between National Grid References:

  • TQ 26525 77125
  • TQ 26552 77115
  • TQ 26524 77101
  • TQ 26520 77104

Area 2 between National Grid References:

  • TQ 26552 77115
  • TQ 26684 77102
  • TQ 26684 77110
  • TQ 26525 77125

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 108 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,600 cubic metres a day
  • 31,200 cubic metres a year
  • between 01 January and 31 December inclusive in each year.

The abstracted water will be transferred into the River Thames at National Grid Reference TQ 26564 77112 and the sewer, without intervening use.

The water will be used for dewatering for construction purposes.

Further details are: the construction involves building a shaft and a connection tunnel linking the shaft to the main Tideway Tunnel. The shaft will require pressure relief of the underlying Intermediate Aquifer (Lambeth Group Sands) during construction.
