This report explores female representation among inventors listed on UK published patent applications.
The analysis covers patent applications published between 1997 and 2024. It examines long-term trends in female inventorship and compares differences across individual inventors and inventor teams.
The report is supported by data tables. This work builds on previous published research by the IPO and forms part of a wider research programme on participation in intellectual property. Feedback is welcome at research@ipo.gov.uk.
