Animal Health and Welfare items and specifications - Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2026

Published 24 February 2026

Applies to England

Each item in this list has an expected average cost, based on item costs from a cross-section of suppliers.

The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) will pay you a grant amount of 50% towards either:

  • the average cost of the item – if an item costs you the same or more than the expected average cost in this list

  • the actual cost you pay for the item – if an item costs you less than the average cost in this list

How applications for animal health and welfare items are scored

Applications for animal health and welfare items are scored on their contribution towards the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway priorities.

RPA will score your application by:

  • multiplying the score for each item you’ve applied for by the quantity you have applied for and adding these numbers together (total A)

  • multiplying the maximum grant amount for each item you’ve applied for by the quantity you have applied for, and adding these numbers together (total B)

  • dividing total A by total B

Example

1 × FETF60: hydraulicly or pneumatically operated squeeze crush (item score 980, maximum grant amount £6,590)

2 × FETF233A: static cow brush (item score: 670, maximum grant amount £46)

Application score

Total item score (total A): (1 × 980) + (2 × 670) = 2,320

Total maximum grant amount (total B): (1 × £6,590) + (2 × £46) = £6,682

Application score: 2,320 ÷ 6,682 = 0.35
