One of the core policy measures set out in the Department for Transport (DfT) Jet Zero strategy is supporting consumers to make sustainable choices and access standardised environmental information when booking a flight online.

DfT commissioned the Behavioural Insights Team and Transport Research Laboratory to explore different ways of presenting carbon information on simulated online flight booking sites and assess the impacts on:

  • sustainable consumer flight choices
  • consumer understanding
  • wider consumer attitudes

The findings will help inform the future design and implementation of carbon labels.
