Expert advisory group on further education (FE) teacher training and development

Introduction

The Department for Education (DfE) has established an expert advisory group on FE teacher training and development. The group supports the development and publication of new guidance on curriculum content for FE initial teacher education (ITE) courses. We expect to publish this guidance ahead of the start of the academic year 2026 to 2027.

The work of the group will be informed by results from the call for evidence on FE teacher training and development, which was launched on 17 October 2025 and closes on 12 December 2025.

Membership

The group is made up of individuals with expertise and experience in the delivery of high-quality FE ITE programmes, or with relevant academic research interests.

The group is chaired by Anna Dawe, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Wigan and Leigh College. The full membership of the group is as follows:
