Expert advisory group on further education (FE) teacher training and development

Introduction
The Department for Education (DfE) has established an expert advisory group (EAG) on FE teacher training and development.
The revised members of the EAG will support DfE’s policy development for FE early career support and wider professional development from April 2026 onwards.
High-quality teaching is key to learner success. The government aims to raise teaching standards across FE by improving early career support and professional development, building on the first phase of work by the previous members of the EAG who supported the reforms to FE initial teacher education (ITE).
Membership
The group is made up of members with experience and expertise in the FE sector, including designing and delivering early career support and professional development or undertaking relevant academic research.
The group is chaired by Anna Dawe, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Wigan and Leigh College. The full membership of the group is as follows:
