Details
Through the development of fisheries management plans (FMPs), Defra has worked with industry and interested stakeholders across the fisheries sector to identify evidence gaps. These are areas where further information is needed on a range of relevant topics.
These evidence gaps need to be addressed to successfully implement the measures and goals set out in each FMP.
A collaborative approach is being taken across fisheries sectors to address the full range of FMP evidence gaps.
This spreadsheet collates all the evidence gaps identified across the FMPs published by Defra. It is an iterative document that will evolve as more FMPs are developed.
The FMPs covered by this document are:
- bass FMP
- Channel demersal non-quota species FMP
- cockle FMP
- crab and lobster FMP for English waters
- king scallop FMP
- North Sea and Channel sprat FMP
- queen scallop FMP
- Southern North Sea and English Channel flatfish FMP
- Southern North Sea and Channel skates and rays FMP
- Southern North Sea demersal non-quota species FMP
- whelk FMP for English waters
Defra would like to hear about any proposed, current or completed work being delivered outside of Defra group that addresses these evidence gaps. If you would like to speak to us about a piece of work, contact: FMP@marinemanagement.org.uk
