This research was commissioned by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and carried out by know.space, Frontier Economics and TerraWatch Space. It assesses the impacts of the UK’s participation in the Copernicus programme since rejoining in 2024 and the cost-effectiveness of this investment. This report sets out the early findings from the first two years back in the programme. A full evaluation report will be published in 2028.

Copernicus is the EU’s flagship Earth Observation programme which the UK rejoined in January 2024.
