The Home Office Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) evaluated the purge blank cycle of the Intoximeter EC/IR, a breath-alcohol testing instrument that is used by the police.

This report is CAST’s technical assessment and contains an explanation of why an extended purge/blank cycle is undertaken.
