Updated 3 October 2014

Applies to England

The Environment Agency is working with European Metal Recycling Limited (EMR) to reduce noise emitted from their site in Park Hall Road, Stoke-on-Trent.

Latest news

European Metal Recycling Limited (EMR) ceased trading at their Park Hall site in Stoke-on-Trent on Friday 26 September 2014.

The environmental permits issued by the Environment Agency to EMR still remain in force on the site until they are formally surrendered by the company. EMR will need to clear the site of scrap metal and remove infrastructure such as buildings and concrete. Some of this may be done by subsequent purchasers of the land. This will inevitably cause a degree of noise and dust but is necessary in preparation for the proposed housing development.

EMR has told the Environment Agency that they will keep residents informed about the Park Hall site through the office of the local MP - Rob Flello MP.

The Environment Agency believes that by closing the site, this will resolve the nuisance issues residents have experienced for a number of years.
