The Department for Education (DfE) has published guidance about COVID-19 in educational settings for staff, parents and carers, pupils and students on GOV.UK.

Please check GOV.UK regularly for updates.

2. Information: coronavirus (COVID-19) financial support for schools

On Tuesday 7 April 2020 the Department for Education announced financial support for schools to cover exceptional costs associated with coronavirus (COVID-19) for the period March to July 2020.

We will publish guidance in June with details of the claims process.

3. Information: updated schemes for financing schools guidance for the 2020 to 2021 financial year

We have updated the statutory guidance on schemes for financing schools, to include the extension of the risk protection arrangement (RPA) to local authority maintained schools from 1 April 2020.

We have delayed publishing the government response to the Financial transparency of LA maintained schools and academy trusts consultation, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We will provide more information on the publication in due course.

4. Information: suspension of the 2020 Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) consultation

We have suspended the 2020 Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) consultation due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

We do not know when the consultation is likely to resume but are monitoring the situation closely. At this point in time we are unable to answer any further questions about the consultation, or when any revisions to KCSIE will be made.

We would like to thank anyone who has already submitted a response, your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be taken into account in the final consultation report.

KCSIE 2019 remains statutory guidance. Guidance for schools and colleges to support them keeping children safe, including online, during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic can be found on GOV.UK and should be read alongside KCSIE.
