Following our updates on 17 July to the dedicated schools grant, we’ve published updated pupil number tools.

The updated pupil number tools now include the pupil numbers from the January 2019 census for the early years block.

2. Information: update to guidance on the teachers’ pension employer contribution grant

The Department for Education (DfE) has updated the teachers’ pension employer contribution grant methodology, published in April this year.

The update confirms that Supplementary Fund applications will based on schools’ actual pension costs for November 2019.

In October, we will publish school-level grant allocations and announce details of the Supplementary Fund, including how schools can apply.

3. Your feedback: would you like to take part in research around funding transparency?

We are looking for individuals in schools and local authorities that would be interested in helping us design new government services.

We are looking to improve how education funding is presented and viewed online. Whether you currently view education funding sources online or have not done so in the past, we would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions on improving the service.

What this would involve:

  • we will invite you to an online remote meeting with a researcher
  • a conversation about your current behaviour with regard to viewing education funding
  • viewing our current prototype as well as completing a few set tasks to test the usability, look and feel of the design

The session will last approximately 60 minutes and will give you the opportunity to provide feedback to government service designers. Sessions will run from Monday 19 to Friday 23 August 2019.

Session slots are available:

  • 9.30am – 10.30am
  • 11am – 12pm
  • 1pm- 2pm
  • 2.30pm – 3.30pm
  • 4pm – 5pm

If you are interested in taking part, please contact our user researchers at PDS.MAILBOX@education.gov.uk, adding ‘Funding Research’ to the subject line.
