1. Action: the coronavirus (COVID-19) workforce fund claim form is now open

Please cascade this information to your maintained schools.

The COVID-19 workforce fund claim form is now open.

Eligible schools and colleges can now submit a claim for the cost of absences over a threshold experienced between Monday 22 November 2021 to Friday 8 April 2022.

We have published guidance on how to complete the claim form.

The deadline for submitting a claim is 11:59pm on Tuesday, 24 May.

2. Information: school improvement monitoring and brokering grant allocations

The school improvement monitoring and brokering grant allocations for the period April 2022 to August 2022 have now been published. These allocations are the penultimate allocations for this grant and are paid at 50% of the pro-rated per school level of October 2021 allocations. We will make the final payment of this grant in October 2022.

3. Information: PE and sport premium updated allocations

We have now published the updated allocations for PE and sport premium 2021 to 2022 for the period April 2022 to August 2022.

4. Information: teachers’ pension employer contribution grant (TPECG) and teachers’ pay grant (TPG) allocations

We have published the TPECG allocations and conditions of grant for financial year 2022 to 2023, for those institutions that continue to receive this as a separate grant.

This is the first instalment of these grants which covers April 2022 to August 2022.

The grants are based on the published per pupil rates set out in the updated TPG and TPECG methodology.

5. Information: coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery premium funding grant allocation for April 2022 now available

The recovery premium grant is additional funding to support schools with education recovery during the 2021 to 2022 academic year, following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We have now published the allocations for the period April 2022 to August 2022 and these are available on GOV.UK.

6. Information: dedicated schools grant (DSG) management plan template guidance for local authorities

We’ve published the DSG deficit management plan template guidance.

Local authorities should have received their DSG management plan via document exchange. The template enables local authorities to meet the requirements of the DSG conditions of grant.

This year we’ve removed the high needs benchmarking tool to improve the speed and functionality of the tool.

The template allows local authorities to monitor DSG spending and plan future budgets for the provision of children and young people with SEND, highlighting areas for review.

9. Information: wellbeing support for school leaders

School leaders can access free wellbeing support through the charity Education Support. The Department for Education (DfE) funded scheme provides free one-to-one counselling, one-to-one supervision, and peer support to school leaders, helping those at deputy head level and above with their wellbeing.

Following the consultation in Spring 2022, we have carefully considered all responses received and addressed them in the government response to the consultation which has now been published on GOV.UK. We intend to take all the proposals forward when the next legislative opportunity arises.
