1. Information: academies land and building collection tool (LBCT)

We have updated the academies land and buildings collection tool (LBCT) guidance page to include new versions of the guidance document and Excel workbook. The page also includes information about how to contact us after the online form goes live on Tuesday 1 October 2019.

The deadline for the LBCT return is Monday 4 November 2019.

2. Information: academies accounts return

We have added a document to the academies accounts return guidance page to help trusts and their auditors prepare for the accounts return later this year.

The document provides details about the key differences between the trust’s financial statements and the accounts return.

The deadline for the accounts return is Monday 20 January 2020.

3. Information: academy trust management letters factsheet

We have published a new financial management good practice guide covering academy trust management letters.

This offers guidance on an external auditors’ management letters and on the auditors’ communications to those charged with governance including trustees, accounting officers, principals, executive leaders and chief financial officers.

4. Information: academies consolidated annual report and accounts for 2017 to 2018

The Department for Education (DfE) has published the academies consolidated annual report and accounts for 2017 to 2018.

The report sets out the expenditure and performance of the academy school sector from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2018, including:

  • the performance for the sector for the 2017 to 2018 academic year
  • governance arrangements for the sector

5. Information: 16 to 19 funding guidance for academic year 2019 to 2020

We have published the 16 to 19 individualised learner record (ILR) funding returns guide for academic year 2019 to 2020. The ‘what’s new’ section in the guide helps you find updated areas.

The guide outlines the main features of the 16 to 19 funding arrangements for funding returns for 2019 to 2020. The guidance books are an integral part of our funding agreements and contractual arrangements for young people aged 16 to 19 and those aged 19 to 25 with an education, health and care (EHC) plan.
