1. Reminder: local authority section 251 (s251) outturn data collection for 2017 to 2018

The deadline for local authorities to submit their s251 outturn statements for 2017 to 2018 is Friday 24 August.

We have published guidance on how to complete the outturn statement. This explains how local authorities should record their total dedicated schools grant (DSG) actual expenditure and any other non-statutory DSG actual expenditure.

Local authorities must submit their outturn statements using COLLECT via Secure Access. If you have any questions about this collection, please email us.

2. Reminder: reserve your ticket for spending well on school places

DfE and Educational Building and Development Officers Group would like to invite you to our conference, ‘Spending Well on School Places’.

The aim of the conference, which takes place on Thursday 13 September in Birmingham, is to help local authorities improve capital efficiency, share best practice and explore ways to make your money go further. The event is for professionals involved in the delivery and management of school places, and will feature a speech from Lord Agnew, Minister for the School System.

Tickets are free, on a first come first served basis. Please note that the majority of tickets have now been reserved, so register quickly to secure your place via Eventbrite.
