Details of the application

Equinix (UK) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata consisting of Lower Greensand Formation at London Data Centre 11, 759-762 Henley Road, Slough at National Grid Reference SU 94520 81319.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 72 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,728 cubic metres a day
  • 367,500 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for evaporative cooling.

Further details are: Water will be provided to the evaporative cooling towers of the new industrial unit.
