Environmental Protection Strategies Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising of Hythe Formation at Bramley, Guildford from eight borehole locations at National Grid References: TQ 00809 44957, TQ 00812 44955, TQ 00817 44953, TQ 00821 44955, TQ 00824 44958, TQ 00828 44962, TQ 00826 44965 and TQ 00832 44964.

The application is to abstract water from each borehole as follows:

  • 1 cubic metre an hour

  • 20 cubic metres a day

  • 1,040 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The application is to abstract a total of:

  • 7 cubic metres an hour

  • 160 cubic metres a day

  • 8,320 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for pollution remediation. The abstracted water will be treated onsite and discharged to a foul sewer.
