Environment Agency's use of civil sanctions

Cases for which the Environment Agency has accepted an enforcement undertaking (EU) or imposed a civil sanction for environmental offences.



Under the Environmental Civil Sanctions (England) Order 2010, the Environment Agency is required to publish:

  • EU offers they have accepted
  • civil sanctions they have imposed (not currently available)

  1. Amended the text under Anglian Water Services Limited (reference 709) from 'It relates to sewage pollution incidents on Billing Brook' to 'It relates to suspended solids pollution incidents on Billing Brook'.

  2. Added enforcement undertakings accepted by the Environment Agency: 1 October 2020 to 31 March 2021.

  3. Amended reference 650 - Healthy Kids Limited - who will register as a packaging producer with the Environment Agency not EcoVeritas compliance scheme.

  4. We have published details of the Enforcement undertakings we have accepted from 1 June to 30 September 2020.

  5. We have published details of the Enforcement Undertakings accepted by the Environment Agency between 1 December 2019 and 31 May 2020.

  6. Updated the offer by Wessex Water Services Limited (Brean Merry Bee Sewage Pumping Station) - reference 494 - they donated £50,000 to Somerset Catchment Partnership.

  7. Added new list from 23 May 2019 to 30 November 2019.

  8. We have published a redacted list. We have removed the names of individuals to meet data protection requirements.

  9. We've updated the list of Enforcement Undertakings accepted by the Environment Agency.
