Details

You can use this form to notify the Environment Agency: 

  • if you have sold a boat that is registered to use Environment Agency waterways (River Thames, Medway Navigation and Anglian Waterways) 
  • with new contact details for an owner of a currently registered boat 
  • of a request to refund a registration charge 

This form should only be used by the current registered owner of a boat. 

If you do not notify the Environment Agency about a change in the boat’s ownership, you will continue:  

  • to be responsible for its registration   
  • paying any charges due 

Before you start 

You need to know: 

  • the boat name  
  • registration number 

If you are notifying about a change of ownership, you will need to know: 

  • the new owner’s name, address, and contact details  
  • date of sale 

If you are notifying about a refund request, you may need to know: 

  • date boat permanently left the waterway 
  • where the boat is now  
  • date gold licence purchased 
  • gold licence/Canal and River Trust index number 
  • trade exemption business name 
  • date moved onto trade exemption
