The Environment Agency has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a new transfer licence for the purpose of maintaining flow through a fish and eel pass.
Further details of the proposal are: The application is for the transfer of water from the Duke of Northumberland’s River at Mereway Fish Pass, Twickenham, at National Grid Reference (NGR) TQ 14964 73319 via a fish and eel pass to the River Crane at NGR TQ 14981 73299. Water will be transferred through the fish and eel pass at the following maximum rates: 532.8 cubic metres per hour, 12,787.2 cubic metres per day and 4,667,328 cubic metres per year. Abstraction will take place all year. All water will be returned immediately downstream of the fish and eel pass.
