Details of the application

Environment Agency has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for the transfer of water from the River Churnet at National Grid Reference SK 09312 42537 into a new Larinier fish pass channel to be constructed at Crumpwood Weir.

The Environment Agency will abstract at a maximum rate of:

  • 430 litres per second
  • 1,548 cubic metres an hour
  • 37,152 cubic metres a day
  • 13,560,480 cubic metres a year

All water will be returned immediately downstream of the weir.
