The Environment Agency is applying to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The application is to construct a new embankment at Watermill Farm, Hemingby, Horncastle, National Grid Reference TF 22994 75300.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
Further details of the proposal are: works will include construction of an earth and concrete embankment not exceeding 47.83 metres above ordnance datum in height complete with a culvert incorporating a flow control structure, flood spillway and a trash screen to create a flood storage reservoir with a maximum capacity of 1,500,000 cubic metres. The structure will not hold back water during normal flows, but during flood flows it is designed to restrict downstream flow to reduce the risk of flooding.
