The Environment Agency is applying to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The application is for a licence to transfer water from the River Dove at Marston on Dove Gauging Weir, Derby at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 23719 28814 through a fish pass without intervening use. All water will be returned to the River Dove 30 metres downstream at NGR SK 23748 28806.

The maximum quantities of water the fish pass is designed to abstract are:

  • 12,600 cubic metres per hour
  • 302,400 cubic metres per day
  • 110,376,000 cubic metres per year
  • At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 3,500 litres per second

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The licence shall be viewed as granted, unless the Secretary of State, either as a result of any representations made about the proposal or otherwise, instructs or asks for an application to be made to them.
