Published 2 August 2013

Applies to England, Scotland and Wales

This is Freedom of Information request IA/00715/12

1. Request

In relation to motorcycle training, could you please tell me the following:

  • how many enhanced rider scheme instructors are on the register of post-test trainers (RPMT)?
  • how many enhanced rider scheme certificates have been issued this year to date?
  • how many enhanced rider scheme certificates have been issued in the West Mercia area?

2. Response

As of 10 December 2012, there were 275 RPMT instructors on the register.

Enhanced rider scheme certificates are issued direct to the candidate by the enhanced rider scheme instructor from an electronic certificate template. As these are not issued by DSA, we do not hold any information about the number of certificates issued.

Whilst we do not hold information about the number of certificates issued, instructors should sent a copy of the rider appraisal form to DSA once a candidate has completed enhanced rider scheme training. Up to 10 December, DSA has received 375 rider appraisal forms of which, 59 have been received from trainers in the Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire areas.
