Detail

On 8 July 2015, Natural England submitted a report to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs setting out the proposals for improved access to the coast between Lyme Regis and Rufus Castle, Portland.

The independent planning inspector appointed by the Secretary of State (‘the appointed person’) was minded to determine that these proposals do not strike a fair balance in respect to objections received concerning land at:

  • Littlesea on the East Fleet near Weymouth (from Bourne Leisure Ltd for Haven Leisure Ltd)
  • West Fleet between Rodden and Abbotsbury (from Ilchester Estates)

The objection by Ilchester Estates is being considered at a public inquiry; see the notice for details. The inquiry began on 1 November 2016 at Dorchester Town Hall. It will resume there at 10am on 13 December 2016.
