This explanatory memorandum is about a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and Council amending EU regulations 2024/1689 and 2018/1139 as regards to the simplification of the implementation of harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (Digital Omnibus on AI).

It was submitted by Kanishka Narayan MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for AI and Online Safety, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
