Elverton Farms Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 9/40/04/0223/SR which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Great Stour at National Grid References TR 10923 58152 and TR 11324 57988 at Elverton Farm, Luddenham, Faversham, Kent, ME13 OTN.
The summary of the variation applied for is to:
• Vary the abstraction use to include the purposes of filling a reservoir for subsequent trickle irrigation and direct trickle irrigation; and
• Vary the abstraction quantity to allow for an additional abstraction of 2,045 cubic metres per year.
The abstraction is proposed at the rates of:
For the purpose of trickle irrigation for direct use:
- 2,045 cubic metres per year
- 144 cubic metres per day
- 18 cubic metres per hour
- between May and August inclusive each year.
For the purpose of filling a reservoir for subsequent trickle irrigation:
- 25,909 cubic metres per year
- 1,296 cubic metres per day
- 54 cubic metres per hour
- between November and March inclusive each year.
- this quantity is currently licenced but for the purpose of filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation.
