Details

This social research, undertaken with early career students who have the relevant qualifications required to work in the electricity network sector, aims to provide evidence on:

  • motivations and barriers for working in electricity network roles
  • how these motivations and barriers vary between demographic factors (such as gender)
  • how these students could be encouraged to join the future electricity networks workforce

The research consisted of a 2-phase iterative approach:

  • Phase 1: Desk research to build a profile for network relevant students
  • Phase 2: Primary research with current and recent network relevant students. Research methods included focus groups, depth interviews and an online survey

The research was commissioned by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and carried out by The Social Agency (previously Basis Social).
