1. Action: budget forecast return - online form now available

We have published the budget forecast return online form.

Academy trusts need to submit their budget forecast using the online form by 31 July 2016.

In April we published a guide to completing and submitting your 2016 to 2017 budget forecast return and a training video. We encourage academy trusts to use the workbook and guidance to help complete their return.

Don’t forget to register for our budget forecast return live webinar at 3pm on Friday 10 June 2016. Anyone can register, and we strongly recommend that colleagues in trusts that have recently opened new academies attend. This will be a question and answer session. You can submit questions in advance and during the live session.

2. Information: funding of legacy GCSEs in English, English language and mathematics in 2016 to 2017

We have published information about how we will fund legacy GCSEs in English, English language and mathematics in the academic year 2016 to 2017 on GOV.UK. This follows Ofqual’s announcement about these qualifications being available for resits in November 2016 and for the last time in summer 2017.

Further information on qualifications and eligibility for public funding is available on GOV.UK. If you have any queries, please contact us via our online form.

3. Information: revised guidance on keeping children safe in education

The Department for Education (DfE) has published its response to the consultation on keeping children safe in education which concluded on 16 February 2016.

DfE has also published revised guidance on keeping children safe in education following the consultation. The guidance will come into effect on Monday 5 September 2016.

Schools and colleges should continue to use the existing keeping children safe in education (July 2015) guidance until then.

4. Information: Teachers’ Pensions Annual Return

Teachers’ Pensions has notified all employers not using Monthly Data Collection (MDC) that the Annual Return is available to download from its Employer Portal.

HM Revenue and Customs requires all employers to provide data to administrators by 6 July each year. You must include all employees in your Annual Return regardless of whether they work full-time, part-time or have opted out of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

You can read more information about the Annual Return process on the Teachers’ Pensions website.
