1. Information: presentation on 16 to 19 funding allocations process for 2017 to 2018 academic year

We have published a presentation on the 16 to 19 funding allocations process for 2017 to 2018 academic year. This provides further information on this year’s allocation process following the annual letter to the sector in December.

Schools and academies can use the allocation calculation toolkit to understand how we calculate their 16 to 19 funding allocation for the 2017 to 2018 academic year. The toolkit provides information on the numbers and factors we use to calculate the allocation. More information on the allocation calculation toolkit is in the Information: post-16 allocation calculation toolkit for school and academy sixth-forms (ACT) article in this bulletin.

2. Information: post-16 allocation calculation toolkit for school and academy sixth-forms (ACT)

We will be uploading the 2017 to 2018 post-16 allocation calculation toolkit (ACT) for most school and academy sixth-forms to EFA Information Exchange over the coming days.

You will find the toolkits in the Document Exchange, ‘Revenue Funding’ folder, under ‘AY 2017-18 (2017/18)’. You can access Document Exchange by logging into EFA Information Exchange, and choosing the Document Exchange tab at the top of the page. For support and guidance about EFA Information Exchange, please visit our support page.

Your ACT confirms the factors, funding band proportions and student numbers we will use in your 2017 to 2018 post-16 allocation. It demonstrates how we have used your data to arrive at the allocations. Please note that it does not include information relating to care leavers or large programmes. We will communicate these in your allocation statement at a later date.

We’ve published guidance to help you understand your ACT. If you have any queries on any of the figures or calculations in your ACT, please contact us via our online enquiry form.

Business cases relating to the data within the ACT should only be made once you have received and reviewed your allocation statement. When allocation statements become available, we’ll confirm the deadline for submitting cases. Please do not send in any business cases before receiving your allocation statement.

Please refer to the published 2017 to 2018 post-16 allocations timeline on GOV.UK for more information.

3. Reminder: spring school census deadline

The deadline for approved submissions for the spring school census 2017 is Wednesday 15 February. The database will close to amendments from schools and local authorities on Wednesday 15 March.

You can view the school census videos for more information about the spring census.
