1. Reminder: August accounts return deadline - this week

The deadline for academy trusts to submit their August accounts return is 31 January 2015. As set out in previous e-bulletins, you will need to submit it through the Education Funding Agency (EFA) Document Exchange, using the published guidance.

2. Reminder: publishing academy trusts’ accounts and value for money statements

All academy trusts that prepared accounts for the year ending 31 August 2014 are required by the Academies Accounts Direction to publish these accounts in full on their websites by 31 January 2015.

Trusts open on or before 31 August 2014 must also publish their value for money statements by 31 January.

3. Information: pupil premium allocations for 2015 to 2016

Pupil premium illustrative allocations for the 2015 to 2016 financial year are not yet available.

Academy trusts wishing to calculate their pupil premium grant allocations for 2015 to 2016 using their January pupil census data are reminded that the funding rates are £1,320 for primary-aged pupils and £935 for secondary-aged pupils.

4. Information: high needs exceptional cases

We completed the assessment and moderation of all high needs exceptional cases and communicated the outcome to local authorities on 17 December, finalising the 2015 to 2016 place numbers. On 23 January 2015 we sent additional summary details of our assessments to all those who submitted an exceptional case.

The details of the exceptional case process and the place numbers that we published in December are available on GOV.UK.

If you have any questions, please contact your local authority.

5. Information: introduction to post-16 funding, and changes to 2015 to 2016 academic year funding

We have produced two new videos on post-16 funding. They are:

  • a video to update post-16 institutions on what changes to post-16 funding will be introduced for 2015 to 2016 academic year
  • an introduction to post-16 funding

6. Reminder: restrictions on land transfer

Academies and free schools are required to correctly register all land associated with them, with the Land Registry.

The requirement is set out at 5.1 of ‘Academy and Free School: Model Funding Agreements’. Individual funding agreements will vary, but all include a similar clause.

This is a simple and easy process - but important to get right. You may want to check with your solicitors, or you can easily get hold of a copy of your title register via Land Registry. If your land is not registered or does not include the correct restrictions, you need to apply to the Land Registry using form RX.

7. Information: changes to EduBase

The change to EduBase to show the relationship between sponsors/trusts and their individual academies is now live.

If you need to update any of your information, please refer to the EduBase FAQs for information about how to login to your account and update your school’s record.
