Details of the applications

E H Wrinch and Son has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence and to amend an application that is currently being determined.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).

The new application (application reference number NPS/WR/028621) is for a full licence to abstract water from the Beaumont Creek at National Grid Reference (NGR) TM 19138 35691 at Harkstead, Suffolk.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 72 cubic metres an hour

  • 1,728 cubic metres a day

  • 50,000 cubic metres a year

Between November and March inclusive each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation purposes.

The current application being determined (application reference number NPS/WR/019453) has previously been advertised on 3 August 2017 to abstract 290,000 cubic metres per year from the Beaumont Creek at NGR TM 20514 34027 at Harkstead, Suffolk. This application is competing with another application from T Wrinch (also advertised on 3 August 2017) to abstract 80,000 cubic metres per year from the same watercourse.

Application reference number NPS/WR/019453 has been amended and is now an application to abstract water as follows:

  • 216 cubic metres an hour

  • 5,184 cubic metres a day

  • 550,200 cubic metres a year

Between November and March inclusive each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation purposes.
