The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Nuclear Restoration Services Limited.
The application contains a description of the proposed changes to:

disposals of radioactive waste

use of best available techniques to protect people and the environment

Radioactive substances activity. The variation application has been made to enable the partial infilling of the below ground voids at the Steam Generating Heavy Water Reactor and Dragon Reactor at the Winfrith Site with low-level radioactive waste from on-site demolition operations. A separate deposit for recovery permit application (EPR/CP3329LD) has also been made to cover the use for infilling of non-radiological and non-hazardous site derived construction and demolition waste.
