Details

The draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS) has been assessed under the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017.

The draft HENPS Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) builds on the 2018 HRA for the Airports National Policy Statement (ANPS).

The draft HENPS HRA provides a high-level assessment of:

  • whether a Northwest Runway scheme at Heathrow Airport is likely to result in significant effects on habitats sites (either alone or in combination with other relevant projects or plans)
  • an assessment of whether adverse effects on the integrity of habitats sites would occur
  • assessments of whether feasible alternatives or imperative reasons of overriding public interest exist

The Department for Transport (DfT) commissioned AECOM to prepare the HRA.
