An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Dr Mark Rippon. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Dane at Dane Bank Farm, Holmes Chapel, at National Grid Reference (NGR) SJ 75781 67681.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

  • 15,120 cubic metres an hour
  • 362,880 cubic metres a day
  • 95,542,096 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for Hydropower.

Further details are:

  • the proposed design includes provisions for fish and eel passage at the site
  • all water abstracted will be returned to the river approximately 25 metres downstream of the point of abstraction
