This review summarised evidence from recent systematic reviews on serious or severe adverse effects of doxycycline taken for up to 30 days, focusing on short to medium-term use (search from January 2021 up to 12 August 2024 to follow on from a recent systematic review).

This review included 3 systematic reviews comparing doxycycline to other antibiotics or placebo for the treatment of medical conditions or as a preventive measure against infections, which in total included evidence from 3,372 participants including both children and adults and both men and women.
