We received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:
‘I would like to make a request for information relating to DNA taken from people who have not committed a crime. Specifically I would like to know how many occasions DNA has been taken and retained from people who have not committed a crime. I would also like to know how long the DNA is held in each case.’
