Details

The Department for Communities and Local Government commissioned the BRE to evaluate the current method for allocating the Disabled Facilities Grant to local authorities. This was with a view to proposing new methods that were simpler, fairer and more transparent.

The BRE approach takes into account:

  • people claiming disability-related benefits
  • the proportion of the population aged over 60
  • the proportion of local authority-owned housing stock
  • regional variations in building costs
