RSM UK Consulting LLP has been appointed by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), to undertake a scoping study on Digital Innovation in Product Safety, with a focus on Digital Twins.
The primary objective of this research is to enhance OPSS’ comprehension and insight into Digital Twin technology, along with its interconnectedness with other pertinent digital innovations.
The research also offers relevant conclusions and highlights potential sectors of interest, which may lead to further in-depth investigations in some of these areas.
The research is designed to give insight on how the benefits and opportunities that arise from Digital Twins and other relevant and emerging digital technologies, with a specific focus on consumer products, can be maximised.
In addition, the research explores how the technology has the potential to improve consumer safety and other opportunities such as reducing regulatory burdens on businesses. However, there are currently fewer applications of digital twin technology in the consumer goods space across sectors, which is OPSS’ primary remit.
