Disability Inclusion Strategy 2018 to 2023

DFID’s Disability Inclusion Strategy sets out how we will support and work with people with disabilities worldwide. The FCDO Progress Paper shows what we have done.

More than 1 billion people are disabled globally, 80% of whom live in developing countries. The UK is making sure people with disabilities are at the heart of our work to build a more prosperous and secure future.

Since the Department for International Development (DFID) Disability Inclusion Strategy was published, we have made good progress. This is due to high level commitment, staff enthusiasm and the leadership of people with disabilities and human rights advocates.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is responding to the unprecedented challenge of COVID-19. We aim to ensure humanitarian aid and global development provides crucial support to people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest countries.

We are at an early stage of a long-term process. The progress paper sets out the leadership and specific actions we have taken to advance disability-inclusive development worldwide.
