Details

Research to develop an analytical framework for assessing the local economic contribution of airports.

The main outputs were:

  • a literature review looking at evidence on how airports impact the local economies in the area they are located
  • an analytical framework for assessing the local economic impact of airports in the UK
  • application of the framework to a set of airports across the UK using data from 2019 or scaled to 2019 levels

This research was commissioned in 2020.
