Defra has consulted on their initial policy proposals regarding protected sites and species. It describes the ambitions to restore nature and halt the decline in species abundance by 2030. See the full Defra consultation.

This publication covers the Environment Agency’s response to the consultation.

The Environment Agency welcomes the government’s ambition for a more resilient natural environment as part of its commitment to leave the environment in a better state. We support the intent to improve nature’s protection and enhancement and to better enable its recovery. Nature recovery is central to the EA’s ambition to create better places.
