Details of the application

Defence Infrastructure Organisation has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from groundwater at National Grid Reference (NGR) SU 14 98, Gloucestershire to transfer it to surface water at NGR SU 14 98, Gloucestershire without intervening use. The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 270 cubic metres an hour
  • 6,480 cubic metres a day
  • 2,365,200 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate of 75 litres a second
  • All year.

The water will be abstracted for the purpose of dewatering for a temporary construction project. The proposed abstraction lies within the Cotswolds Abstraction Licensing Strategy reporting area.
