It applies to:
- maintained schools
- academies and free schools
- independent schools
- further education colleges
It relates to all adults working with children and young people, whether in a paid or voluntary position including those who work with children on a temporary, supply or locum basis.
This guidance is about managing cases of allegations that might indicate a person would pose a risk of harm if they continue to work in regular or close contact with children in their present position, or in any capacity.
This document is currently under review and will be consolidated with the related guidance below in spring 2014 following the ‘Keeping children safe in education consultation’.
