Mr David Langmead has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Broad Rife at Selsey, Chichester at National Grid Reference SZ 85050 95100.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 31.8 cubic metres an hour
- 763 cubic metres a day
- 50,000 cubic metres a year
- between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year
The water will be used for storage for subsequent spray irrigation of agricultural crops.
Further details of the application
Screening at the abstraction intake will prevent harm to eels. Abstraction will be restricted to maintain adequate water levels in the Broad Rife.
