Details of the application

Dartmoor Detox Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for 2 licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from the Beckamoor Brook at Heckwood, Sampford Spiney, Dartmoor at National Grid Reference (NGR) SX 54130 74054.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 180 cubic metres an hour
  • 4,320 cubic metres a day
  • 1,040,688 cubic metres a year
  • At a maximum rate of 50 litres per second

The water will be used for a hydropower scheme. All water abstracted will be returned to the Beckamoor Brook at NGR SX 54446 73902.

Dartmoor Detox Limited has also applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the Beckamoor Brook at NGR SX 54130 74054.

By means of a new weir, water will be impounded to facilitate the abstraction of water to the hydropower scheme.
