Background
In July 2024, the government commissioned Professor Becky Francis CBE to convene and chair a panel of experts to conduct the Curriculum and Assessment Review.
The government has considered the Review’s recommendations and responded with a plan to secure an excellent education for every child and young person, raising aspirations and building a world-leading curriculum, assessment and qualifications system for all.
The Review, and the Panel’s Interim Report, was informed by research, statistical evidence and polling data. It was undertaken in close consultation with:
- education professionals and other experts
- parents and carers, children and young people
- stakeholders such as employers, universities and trade unions
Final Report
The Final Report:
- draws on the views shared by these groups, including those provided via a Call for Evidence
- sets out the Review’s conclusions and recommendations
Accompanying documents
The Final Report is accompanied by:
- an analytical annex
- an analysis of the responses to the Call for Evidence
- teacher polling data
Government response
The Curriculum and Assessment Review Final Report: government response and an ‘explainer’ setting out a proposal for developing and consulting on Progress 8 and Attainment 8 have been published.
