Cressbrook Hydropower Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for 2 licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from the River Wye, at Cressbrook Mill, Buxton, Derbyshire at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 17254 72803.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 5,886 cubic metres an hour
- 141,264 cubic metres a day
- 31,078,080 cubic metres a year
- All year
The water will be used for hydropower generation using a Crossflow turbine.
Cressbrook Hydropower Limited has also applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Wye, at Cressbrook Mill, Buxton, Derbyshire at NGR SK 17254 72803.
By construction of a new submerged intake structure water will be impounded to create a head for abstraction.
