Step 6: Review your plan
Updated 7 April 2026
Applies to England, Scotland and Wales
After action plans become mandatory, you will need to review and update your action plan every reporting year. This ensures it evolves over time.
Reviewing your plan
The details of what you will be required to do at the review stages is subject to legislation. Based on current plans, you will need to do an interim progress review 1 year and 2 years after submitting your mandatory action plan. At this point you will be asked questions about progress on your plan as a whole.
You will then need to do a more detailed review 3 years after submitting your mandatory action plan. At this point you will be asked questions about progress on each action in your plan. These reviews could be done at the same time as submitting your gender pay gap figures.
You should make sure you monitor the progress of your actions so you can report on your progress at each review.
Revising your list of actions
You can revise your list of actions at the end of each year. You must be working on at least 2 actions at any time. For example, you will need to add a new action if you:
- change an action from ‘new or in progress’ to ‘embedded’
- change an action from ‘embedded’ to ‘new or in progress’
- remove an action from your plan
