Cost involved in issuing Tier 4 student visas from 2012 to 2013

  1. The unit cost for a Tier 4 student visa is £244 (estimated cost of processing an application). Further information on unit costs and how these relate to visa fees was published in the explanatory memorandum to the Immigration and Nationality (Fees) Regulations 2013 (No 749). From April 2012 to March 2013, the total cost of issuing Tier 4 student visas was £56,471,604.

  2. The fee for a Tier 4 student visa in the year to March 2013 was £289. Estimated income from student visas from April 2012 to March 2013 was £68,969,418.

  3. Student visas are paid for by migrants, rather than UK Universities. UK Universities must pay fees to cover the cost of sponsoring students to come to the UK. The table below sets out fees for each standard product:
